How Do You Troubleshoot Windows XP Logon?
You may be unable to log into Windows when you are first setting up your new Windows XP computer. This problem occurs if your computer was restarted during the Out-of-Box Experience, or OOBE, wizard. The OOBE wizard runs when you first turn on your computer. You will receive the following error message when you enter your user name and password to log into Windows: “System error lsass.exe: When trying to update a password the return status indicates that the value provided as the current password is not correct.” You can troubleshoot the Windows XP Logon problem using the Recovery CD that ships with your new computer. Place the Recovery or Reinstallation CD that shipped with your computer into the computer’s hard drive. Turn the computer off. Restart the computer.
