How Do You Troubleshoot Sound On Windows XP?
Having problems with sound on Windows XP is a fairly common problem. Sometimes, for seemingly no reason, no sound comes from the computer’s speakers or the sound starts going in and out or becomes distorted. Fortunately, troubleshooting a sound problem in Windows XP can be done quickly in a few easy steps. Open a browser window and go to the Microsoft update website (see Resources). Check to see if any sound driver updates are available for your system. Download any driver updates and see if that takes care of the problem. If not, proceed to the next troubleshooting tip. Click the “Start” menu and choose “Help and Support.” Choose “Fix a Problem” from the “Help” menu. Choose “Games and Sound” from the problem options. Open the “Sound Troubleshooter” located in the right menu pane. Click “Next” after choosing which option best describes your sound issue. The wizard will attempt to identify and then repair the problem. If the sound problem isn’t fixed after the first attempt, hit the “Ba
