How Do You Troubleshoot Problems With PDF Files In Firefox?
If Firefox is having problems opening PDF files, check the Firefox settings to make sure Adobe Reader is where it is supposed to be on the system and that it is accessible to Firefox. The problem may be as simple as a hung-up PDF file that can be deleted without harming the system. Open the Firefox browser program. Click the menu ToolsFirefoxEdit. Go to Options and select Preferences. Click the icon labeled Content. Select Manage, located next to File Types. This enables the Download Actions window. Locate the PDF extension in the list of files provided and click on it. Hit the Change Action button, which brings up handler options. Press the button next to Use this Plugin. Verify that Adobe Acrobat is in the field. If not, then delete the mimetypes.rdf file (see Section 2 of this article).
