How Do You Troubleshoot GMC Brake Systems?

0

GMC brake systems are relatively simple in design to ensure reliable performance for the life of the vehicle. However, regular maintenance and servicing are required. Most brake problems on GMC vehicles occur when brake pads and rotors are not changed at regular intervals or when there is a partial or full failure of the anti-lock braking system. Check the fuse for the ABS system. Open the fuse panel by pulling down the fuse panel cover underneath the steering column. In most GMC vehicles, there is a release lever that pulls the fuse panel cover off. Remove the fuse with the fuse puller located on the fuse panel cover. Check to make sure that the fuse is not blown. Turn the ignition to the “II.” Check to make sure the ABS light does not stay on. If the ABS light comes on and stays steady, your ABS system must be checked. Check the brake pad lining for depth. In most cases you will be able to see the brake pad depth through the spokes on the wheel without having to remove the wheel itse
