Troubleshooting starter problems on your 1994 Lincoln Town Car will not necessarily be a quick task. Any number of parts — such as the battery, ignition, starter solenoid or the starter — could be preventing your Town Car from starting properly. Through process of elimination, however, you can determine which component on the vehicle is causing the failure to start. Check the battery’s maintenance. Disconnect the negative and positive battery connectors from the battery with a socket and ratchet. Clean the connectors on the battery with water and baking soda and then reconnect the connectors to the battery in proper order. Corroded contacts can cause a poor connection between the battery and the ignition system. Check the bolts that tighten the connectors to the battery terminal and tighten if needed.
