How Do You Troubleshoot An Iomega Zip Drive?
Iomega’s Zip Drive, once the king of removable media, is now relegated to the “legacy hardware” category. Although it has been brought down by removable drives with larger capacities that are less expensive (CD-R) and more convenient (flash drives), it still remains a viable option, as there are millions of Zip discs out there with data on them that may need to be accessed sooner or later. For this reason, it is important to have your drive in working order and to troubleshoot possible problems. Check the obvious: Make sure all cables are connected, that the Iomega software is installed on the computer and that you’re not trying to use a 100MB drive to read a 250MB Zip disc. Reboot the computer to see if that’s the problem. Change things around. Try the Zip drive on a different computer to see if it’s the USB port or the computer itself that is causing the problem.
