Turn the water supply off as well. Place a bucket under the water hose at the back of the washer. Disconnect the hoses from the Amana washing machine and set the ends in a bucket. Inspect the water inlet ports on the washing machine. The screens can become clogged with sediment in the water. If necessary, clean the screens with a toothbrush to remove the sediment buildup. Remove the top cover of the Amana washing machine. Insert a putty knife between the top and front of the washer and press in to release the locking tab.
