How Do You Troubleshoot A Nissan Xterra Air Bag Light?
The airbag light on your Nissan Xterra comes on when the airbag assembly is malfunctioning. The airbag assembly in the Xterra is a very complicated component and should be serviced only by a professional mechanic. Replacement airbags are normally purchased directly from Nissan and installed at the dealership. However, before having any service work done on your airbag, you should do a simple troubleshooting procedure to make sure that the problem is not a loss of power to the airbag sensor or control module. Pull down on the fuse panel cover under the steering column with your fingers to remove it. Pull the fuse for the airbag using the fuse pullers in the fuse panel. Use the fuse diagram on the underside of the fuse cover if you are having trouble finding the airbag fuse. Check the fuse. If it is blown, replace the fuse with a new fuse of the same amperage.
