Electric start lawn mowers are so much easier to run than the kind where you have to pull the cord. However, from time to time, the electric ignition can have problems. Make sure the deadman or cutoff switch is operational. The deadman switch must be in the correct position or the ignition doesn’t work for safety reasons. Check that the ignition switch is in the “ON” position. Turn the switch back to the “OFF” position and then back “ON” again to make sure you have a positive connection at the switch. Fuel the engine with unleaded gasoline. Replace fuel at the beginning of the mowing season with fresh gasoline. Be sure the fuel shut-off valve is open. Look at the battery cables. Make sure they are secure on the battery posts. If you see signs of corrosion on the battery, clean it. Charge the battery. Murray recommends that the battery have a full charge of 2 amps.
