How Do You Troubleshoot A General Electric Dryer?
Although General Electric dryers are generally reliable, problems occur from time to time. When a dryer does not operate as it should, you’ll need to check several parts to determine the problem. Check the circuit breaker. If the dryer is not turning on, and it is plugged in, the problem may be a tripped fuse. Make sure the dryer breaker is switched to “on.” If it is not, flip the switch and check the dryer. Locate the door switch near the frame of the dryer’s door. Press the switch with your finger while the dryer is plugged in. If the dryer does not start, the problem could be a defective switch. Check the fuse that is mounted on the exhaust duct’s back cover panel. The fuse is about 10 to 12 inches long, and is located inside a plastic housing. If the fuse appears to be connected, it is probably fine. If the connection is broken or blown, the dryer may not heat properly–or work at all. Check the dryer’s wiring.
