How Do You Troubleshoot A Gas Dryer Thermal Fuse?
Owning a gas dryer that all of the sudden stops producing heat can be a frustrating experience. In many cases the source of your frustration is likely a blown thermal fuse, a common safety component found in home appliances. Thermal fuses keep appliances from heating beyond safe levels by disrupting the power to the heating mechanisms when the appliance begins to overheat. The troubleshooting process to determine if the thermal fuse in your gas dryer is faulty is simple enough to be completed by even the novice do-it-yourselfer. Clean out the lint trap in your gas dryer. If lint is allowed to build up in your dryer’s lint trap it can cause your dryer to overheat and trigger the thermal switch. Remove your gas dryer’s lint trap, and wash it thoroughly. When you replace the lint trap, make sure it sits securely in its housing. Check the flexible exhaust hose behind your gas dryer.
