How Do You Troubleshoot A Faucet Installation?

0

Faucets are not very complex and most problems can be fixed by tightening a nut or replacing a washer. If a faucet installation doesn’t deliver water or leaks, pinpointing the cause is fairly straightforward and fixing it may be just as easy. In some rare instances, the faucet may be faulty or it may have a broken pipe inside it, but that isn’t very likely. Do a few simple checks before you replace it. Unscrew the supply line from each of the faucet pipes, using channel locks, and verify that water is flowing when you turn on the angle stops. Unscrew the aerator and check for debris. If neither of these reveal a problem and the water isn’t flowing, remove the cartridge, ball valve or compression stem from each of the handles and examine for debris. Verify that the mechanism is working properly. Inspect supply line connections for leaks and tighten if necessary. Apply Teflon tape to the connections if leaking persists. Examine washers in aerators that spray when sufficiently tightened.
