How Do You Troubleshoot A Dragon Naturally Speaking Problem With Vista?
Dragon NaturallySpeaking gives you the ability to write, dictate and navigate your computer without the use of your hands. All it requires is your voice. It is one of the few voice recognition programs out there with a high degree of accuracy. However, it uses a lot of your computer’s resources and therefore a lot can go wrong, anything from program failures to Vista compatibility issues. Problems fall into two categories: those that are a software issue and those that are a hardware issue. Diagnosing which of these categories your problem falls into is the first step in fixing it. Test your microphone using a different program and a different computer. There are many free audio editing programs on the web, such as Audacity, that you can use to record your voice and play it back. This will let you know if it is simply an issue of a bad microphone. Some microphones work better with Dragon than others, and the Nuance website has a list of the ones they found to work best (see Resources).
