If your computer has developed such a problem, it is important to investigate the possible causes right away. Record the time and date of each unexpected shutdown. It is important to use your troubleshooting skills to look for patterns. Log on to your computer and click on the “Start” button. Choose “Control Panel” from the menu and click on the “Administrative Tools” option. Choose “Event Viewer” from the list and examine the logs. Look for events that happened at the same time as your system shutdown. Look for patterns in the events listed. If, for instance, the same program is listed in each of the relevant events, you can be fairly certain that is the program causing the problem.
