How Do You Troubleshoot A Central Air Condenser That Won Drain?
An air conditioner uses a refrigerant that exchanges heat from the air outside of the house to the air inside. By controlling the heat of the air, it can control the temperature of the house. Most air conditioners have condensate drains, or drains through which condensed water from the air drains as the air passes through the evaporator and its blades.Drainage ProblemsIf pools of water are building up around your air conditioner, especially around the condenser and evaporator, you probably have a condensate drain problem. Inspect the drain lines and the evaporator first. The drain pan and drain lines are designed to catch any water that drips off of the evaporator fin blades after it has condensed from the air. If the pan itself is cracked or broken, or if it is off center, than the water may not be leaking down properly. Adjust the drain pan as needed. Inspect the drain lines to ensure they are not blocked off. Be sure to turn off your air conditioner before you begin this inspection
