How Do You Trim Wood Baseboard While Installed On The Wall?
Trimming baseboard before installation is typically a simple task that can be handled by even the most novice carpenter. Trimming baseboard that is already attached to the wall without mangling the baseboard and surrounding wall is a slightly bigger challenge. There are times when a freshly installed and painted baseboard will need to be trimmed and time will not allow for its removal and reinstallation. With a little patience, the right tool and a few helpful hints, you can cut baseboard on the wall. Measure the piece to be cut carefully. This is one mis-cut that will be difficult to recover from gracefully. Place a strip of masking tape in the area that the cut is to be made. Press it down smoothly. Mark the line of the cut on top of the tape all the way across the face of the molding using a quick square and a pencil.
