As you work your way around the screen door frame installing the new mesh, the door handle area and locking mechanism can really seem like a challenge. Approach the handle the same way you did the entire screen, trim excess screen around the lock and fasten the screen into the frame using the spline. Install the new mesh into your screen door using your screen roller. The roller is a must have when putting a new screen on your sliding screen door. Push the spline and screen into the frame using the roller. Start at one corner, and work your way around the entire door until you reach the handle area. Fold the excess screen down over the locking mechanism of the handle. Measure how much screen you need to complete the door. Cut the excess from the screen carefully using a utility knife. Make sure you leave enough screen to cover the area. Roll the screen and spline into the frame up to the lock.
