How Do You Trim Inside A Rough Window Opening?
Installing or replacing a window can add value to a home. After the window is installed in the window jamb, this roughed-in window can be finished by adding cut pieces of sheetrock around the interior of the jamb. These pieces are screwed directly into the wooden jamb framing and finished with drywall mud to smooth the seams and corners. Caulk the edges where the sheetrock meets the window frame, primer and paint to suit your needs. Measure from the inside of the back of the window track to the edge of the wall. Measure the width of the interior of the window frame from both sides on the top and bottom. Mark these measurements down. Place the sheetrock against the wall and mark the measurements for the top and bottom pieces. Cut these pieces with the razor knife and straight edge. Screw these pieces into place along the top and bottom of the window jamb. Countersink the screws slightly without breaking the sheetrock. Repeat these steps for the two side pieces.
