How Do You Trim A Ficus Plant?
Ficus plants, which are a type of shrub, can be an attractive addition to your indoor or outdoor garden. Unlike many types of plants, ficus can be controlled, so you can allow it to grow large or prevent it from doing so. Like any plant, ficus requires proper care. Trim a ficus plant properly to avoid doing damage that could kill the shrub. Choose which branches to prune. It’s inadvisable to simply attack a ficus with your shears, pruning anything that looks a little too long or overgrown. Carefully select which branches you want to trim, starting with the longest branches first. Trim the branches that feature one or more junctures with other, smaller branches. Make sure you’re trimming back to a healthy branch. Make smooth, even, small cuts. Trim the long end of the branch back to a juncture with a single, smooth stroke. Avoid bending, ripping or tearing branches. If you are cutting entire branches back, make cuts above the swollen area of the stem near the base. Cut above nodes. Alwa
