How Do You Treat Mastocytosis?
Mastocytosis is the overproduction of mast cells. It is most commonly manifested as a condition of the skin; however it can appear in certain body tissues such as the liver, spleen, small intestine, stomach and bone marrow. Fortunately, there are various treatments available to treat mastocytosis and the treatment method is dependent on the location of the excess mast cells. Steer clear of things that trigger symptoms. Make a list of things you ate or were exposed to prior to the emergence of symptoms. Insect bites, heat, foods and emotional stress are all possible triggers. Start treatment with an antihistamine. Specific antihistamines are used to treat particular symptoms. The antihistamines halt the production of histamine, which is produced by mast cells. Treat diarrhea using a medicine called cromolyn. This is in the form of a pill taken orally. Apply topical steroids for lesions and rashes. Oral steroids are used to treat malabsorption of nutrients. Use epinephrine if symptoms in
