How Do You Treat Epididymitis In The Wilderness?
The epididymis is a tube in the scrotum. Epididymitis is an inflammation of this tube, causing great discomfort. Identify the signs and symptoms of epididymitis: reddening and swelling of the scrotum, pain or discomfort in the scrotum, and possible fever. These signs and symptoms will increase gradually. Support the scrotum with a jock strap or an improvised jock strap made from a triangular bandage or a bandanna. Confine the patient to bedrest – any activity will be very painful. Apply cold packs to the scrotum. Administer aspirin, ibuprofen or acetaminophen to help with the fever and pain. Evacuate to a hospital immediately – antibiotics will be necessary for recovery.
