How Do You Treat Ear Piercing Infections?

0

Infections commonly occur in recently pierced ears. Bacteria gets into the hole and grows into an infection. Proper cleaning and piercing techniques can prevent this. If treated quickly and correctly, most infections do not become serious. See a doctor if it doesn’t improve after a few days of at home treatment or worsens. Signs of infection include puss, blood, pain, swelling or throbbing. Wash the ear twice a day with warm water and hydrogen peroxide. Soak a cotton ball in a mixture of 1/4 teaspoon of sea salt and a half cup of very hot water. Hold the cotton ball to the infected area for five minutes. Do this up to four times a day. Apply antibiotic cream to infected area twice a day with Q-tips. Keep the earring in but make sure it’s not too tight. Removing the earring can make the infection worse.
