Burns and scalds they can happen many different ways, the biggest thing is you want to cool down the area as quick as you can, we do that not with cold cold water but with you know cold water from a tap. Simply turn the sink on, try to apply the water to the extremity, if it is an upper arm or chest you can put it on a wash cloth and apply that to the burned area to help cool it down a little bit. If the burn is so bad that it requires medical attention such as major blistering, if the patient is getting weak nausea or vomiting anything that could be considered a life threat you definitely want to call nine-one-one or seek additional professional help from your local emergency department or physician.
