How Do You Treat Baby Cradle Cap?
Baby cradle cap is form of dermatitis that affects the scalps of many newborn children. Although generally harmless and not bothersome to the child, the greasy, scaly, yellowish crust that forms on your newborn’s scalp is not particularly attractive! Luckily, however, mild cases of baby cradle cap can be treated very easily at home, using safe and effective remedies. RECOGNIZE THE SIGNS OF BABY CRADLE CAP Baby cradle cap generally appears in the first three months of life. It often starts off white and flaky, like baby dandruff, but quickly becomes a yellow, greasy crust. Large patches will form, and if not treated, the crust will become fairly thick. SOAK BABY’S SCALP WITH OLIVE OIL Before your baby’s bath, wrap him/her in a towel and place in a bouncy seat or another adult’s lap. Slowly drizzle about 1/4 cup of plain olive oil onto the scalp, being sure to avoid drips. With the pads of your fingertips, gently massage the oil into the skin.
