How Do You Treat A Cat Bite?
• Distance yourself from the biting cat. • Wash the wound with soap and warm water. • If you are bleeding profusely, apply pressure for at least five minutes. • Get help. If bleeding does not stop, or if blood spurts out with the rhythm of your heartbeat, call 911 and apply tourniquet. • Once bleeding is under control, apply antiseptic such as hydrogen peroxide to the wound. • Finish treatment with topical antibiotic. Monitor wound for signs of redness or swelling. If these signs appear, see a doctor immediately.
