How do you train a kitten to not scratch the furniture and to use a litter box?

Well for the litter box they usually learn on their own but if for some reason the cat keeps going to the bathroom elsewhere, pick her up, say no loudly (my cat knows what no means) and then walk to the litter box and place her in it, and push her but down. For the scratching, get one or two decent sized scratching posts and when you see them scratching on something like furniture, grab them, say no loudly and place them on the scratching posts, as many time’s as you need to. Another alternative to the scratching, is little plastic covers you put on their nails. I just recently put them on my 4 month old and so she can’t scratch anything. Also she doesn’t even notice they are on her.
