Contact points are an essential part of an agility course. A variety of objects on an agility course, including the dog walk, a-frame and teeter totter, require that your dog place at least one foot completely in the contact zone at the bottom of the obstacle. If the dog misses the contact point, the obstacle is not counted and the dog will not receive a qualifying score. Training your dog to properly hit all contact zones is not a difficult task and can be accomplished in just a few training sessions. Start training your contact points when your puppy is young. Working on contact points is a low-impact exercise and can be done on puppies as young as twelve weeks of age.
