There are two types of cocker spaniels — the English and the American, but both types are very popular in many countries of the world. Cocker spaniels are friendly, intelligent dogs that only get to be, at the heaviest, 35 pounds. They are noted for getting along great with people and other animals, but only if you train them right. Choose where the puppy will urinate and defecate before bringing the puppy home. Before you bring the puppy inside, place the puppy down at the designated area and keep the puppy there until it eliminates. Since cocker spaniel puppy bladders are very small, this won’t take long. Introduce your puppy to brushes, combs and bathing as soon as possible to get it familiar with the routine.
