Veterans are as close or closer than family members, and tend to stay in touch over the years. Your best bet is with the Scots Guard unit he was in. You can also contact the current unit – all military units have a way of tracking down old members, especially officers in case of national emergencies. In 90% of the case it’s not an issue, but they keep track anyway – just in case.
