Fishing requires a working knowledge of knots to secure fishing line and to reel in the fish. There is nothing worse than to have a big one on the hook and then lose it when a knot fails. Make sure your line and knots are secure enough to hold fast for whatever you may catch by learning several knots and then practicing them until you can tie them properly. Fold the fishing line so you have approximately six inches of doubled line after the folded loop. Insert the loop of line through the eye of the fishhook. Tie an overhand knot with the fishing line around the eye of the fishhook while the hook hangs down. Do not completely tighten the knot yet. Slip the loop down around the entire fishhook and pull the fishing lines tight around the eye of the fishhook to finish the knot. Insert the end of the fishing line through the eye of the fishhook and pull through approximately five inches of fishing line.
