How Do You Tie Fly Fishing Lines?
Fly fishing is one of the most rewarding sports around. There is nothing like hearing the whistle of the fly in the air, the splash as it hits the water, and the sound of a hooked fish on the end of the line. Having a good, solid knot is crucial to the last step; the last thing a fisherman wants to see is a fish rapidly escaping because his knot broke or came undone. There are many different knots, all effective in preventing this type of disaster. The arbor knot is used to tie your line to your reel. Wrap the line around the arbor (column-like portion) of the reel. Tie a loose overhand knot around the standing end, or the source of the line. Tie another, tighter overhand knot at the end of the line, a few inches away from the loose knot. Hold on to the reel with one hand and pull on the standing end of the line.
