How Do You Tie Down Outdoor Sheds?
High winds can cause serious damage to your shed if it is lifted off the foundation and blown into a house or car. Many cities and towns have local building codes that require you to install tie-down anchors and cables to your shed. The tie-down kit should be available where you purchased your shed, or you can buy one at most lumber yards. Put on safety glasses and gloves. Screw in an anchor at an angle away from the shed at each corner. For skid-mounted sheds, fish a piece of wire cable from one corner of the shed between the shed deck and the 4-inch x 4-inch pressure-treated skids to the opposite corner. Do this for both ends of the shed. For sheds without skids, stretch the wire over the top of the shed and attach to anchors. Do this for both ends of the shed. Attach the cable wires to the anchors using supplied hardware.
