The arbor knot is one of the easiest to tie and supremely useful when it comes to fishing. If you need to attach your line around the reel spool, then the arbor knot is what you should use. In fishing, this will most likely be your reel–or perhaps it will be the base knot for a fly you are tying. Tie an overhand knot around the fishing line. This is simply going over the line, forming a loop and coming back through the loop. It’s the base knot to tying shoes. Create a second knot that is further down the line (toward the object you are securing). This knot is also a plain old overhand knot. You should now have two knots on the line.
