How Do You Tie A Figure Eight Knot With A Double Bite Variation?

The Figure eight with double loops, usually referred to as figure eight bunny ears, is commonly used for tying small Y-hang anchors for rappel lines or creating two loops at the end of a haul line. Start with a bite of rope, larger than one needed to tie a regular figure eight. Twist the bite around itself, creating an ‘X’ where it crosses over. Pass double lines below the bite through the loop above the twists, but leave the bite sticking out. Pass the bite over the double lines that are now, two loops. Push the bite toward the middle of the knot. Pull on both loops to take any slack out of the knot.
