How Do You Throw A Split-Finger Fastball?

0

Want to get an edge on the competition? Well, just about every pitcher out there has mastered the fastball, but what about the split finger fastball? If executed correctly this pitch can be the secret weapon for any pitcher to sit the batter back on the bench! Grasp the baseball where the seams are closet together pointing up. Hold it with your index finger (first finger) and your middle finger stretched as far as you can around the seams, with this part of the seams running almost parallel with your fingers. When executing the pitch use the same motion and velocity you would as if you were throwing a normal fast ball, except for one thing… whenever the ball is about to leave your hand flick your wrist as hard as possible towards the ground and allow the ball to exit your hand. The key of this pitch is being able to get the ball to spin forward instead of backward as in the regular fastball.
