There are beads with small holes that make passing a thread through difficult. For such beads, beading needles are a necessity. There are different types of beading needles and the most popular include twisted needles, wide-eye needles and English needles. Wide-eye needles and twisted needles are easy to thread without need of a threader. English needles, which look like longer, thinner versions of sewing needles, have small holes that may be easier to thread with a threader. Pull the needle open with two fingers. Wide-eye needles are long and made of two steel wires joined at each end. Open the wires to see the “eye” in the middle. Pass the tip of the thread through the eye. Pull the thread through the opening. Keep the eye open as you pull the thread. If you let the eye close, the needle may cut the thread or cause it to unravel as you pull.
