How do you think the swine flu will affect sales of Mexican products like Corona beer?

This was selected as Best Answer Overall, I believe there will be little to no impact on the sales (imports) of Mexican products because of the swine flu. The only real impact will be the increased fear factor infused into consumer minds by the media. In reality, only a small percentage of the US population could identify a product they use on a regular basis that originates from Mexico. The only possible exception to this would be products that overly brand their Mexican origins; Corona, Jumex, Pan Bimbo, Tia Rosa, etc. Even the affect of the swine flu will most likely be minimal. It’s quite a stretch to go from beer to pork products. Addtionally, hundreds of companies have operations in Mexico which produce products for the US market (Coca Cola, Nestle, Procter & Gamble, HP, IBM, etc.). While fear mongering has become a popular trend lately, I’d say the biggest fallout will be an increased state of xenophobia; especially around Mexican border states.
