How do you think microfinance will help build Nigeria\s economy?
Across West Africa (and indeed globally) it has been recognized that much of the activity that will spur sustainable economic development will happen through micro and small businesses. Therefore, by providing the fuel that powers such businesses, microfinance will play a large part in helping these countries meet their Millennium Development Goals. Economic empowerment enables issues of poverty, illiteracy and health to be addressed. The Youngest Entrepreneurs In countries where life expectancies are low, and many children are orphaned at a young age, young people often have to find ways to support themselves financially. MFIs often work with youth to help them learn about savings, and in some instances, start small businesses. Youth microfinance initiatives can help to combat child labor, support the fight against HIV/AIDS, support reproductive health interventions, and decrease anti-social behavior. ALIDE, is one of the many organizations that supports youth through microfinance. It
