How do you think Jackie Robinson is a Renaissance man?
Beyond being an exceptionally good baseball player, he had been a world class track athlete and collegiate star at football and basketball, attended UCLA, conducted himself with remarkable dignity and self control after entering Major League Baseball, and afterward was active in advancing Black business interests, wrote a newspaper column and was a major supporter of the civil rights movement and Dr. Martin Luther King. If he wasn’t a renaissance man, he was at least a very well-rounded and respectable person.
