Oftentimes nursing mothers will freeze their breast milk so that the infant can still receive the benefits of breast milk when the mother is away. Thawing frozen breast milk is simple as long as the proper protocol is followed. First take a really good look at the frozen milk. It may be slightly yellow or blue in color- this is normal. You need to look out for freezer burn, which makes the milk look slightly chalky. The milk may be stored in a bag or a glass or plastic container. Instructions for both are given below.
