How Do You Test & Repair A Dryer Heating Element?
If your clothes dryer is spinning but the clothes are not getting dry, the heating element may be bad. Learn how to test and repair a dryer heating element before calling a repairman. By doing it yourself, you will save time and money. Disconnect the power cord from the outlet. Also, turn off the power at the circuit breaker box. Refer to the owner’s manual on the proper technique for removing the dryer cabinet. All models have different ways of doing this. A quick search online will help if the owner’s manual is nowhere to be found. With access to the heating element, it can be tested with a volt-ohm meter. Set the meter to the RX1 setting and touch each end of the element with the probes. If it reads infinite resistance, the heating element needs to be replaced.
