How Do You Test If A Dish Is Microwave Safe?
• Fill a microwave-safe cup or mug with cold water. • Place the plate in question in the microwave. • Place the mug of water in the microwave, along with the questionable plate. • Microwave on high for 15 seconds. • When it is done, carefully feel the plate and the water in the cup or mug. If the plate is hot and the water is cold, the plate is not microwave-safe. If the opposite occurs, which is the case with most plates, continue. • Repeat the above steps, microwaving for 30 seconds. • Repeat the above steps, microwaving for 1 minute. If the the plate has remained cold, it is likely microwave-safe.
