How Do You Test Heating Element In A Clothes Dryer?
When the clothes in your dryer do not seem to be getting dry, you may have a faulty element. When you know how to test the heating element in a clothes dryer, you can determine if it needs to be replaced or if the problem involves something else. The obvious cause of a dryer not heating is a faulty element. Disconnect the clothes dryer from the electrical supply by unplugging it from the wall socket. Use a putty knife to press in the retaining clips between the front panel and toe panel. After the clips are released, pull the toe panel off the dryer. If your heating element is in the upper rear of your dryer model, remove the rear panel. Use a screwdriver to remove the screw that secures the top of the heater can that houses the heating element. You can quickly identify the can by the one or two thermostats attached to the side. Use a pair of needle nose pliers to disconnect the wires from the terminals on the heating element.
