Most thermostats have the ability to run the blower fan even when the HVAC system is not currently heating or cooling. This option is available to provide the ability to keep circulating air around the building nonstop. Since the blower fan uses little energy to run by itself, it may be beneficial to run it all the time. This will help to remove dust and other allergens from the air in the building. It will also help to provide a more even temperature in the building. Occasionally you will want to test the fan thermostat switch to make sure it is still operating properly. Set the thermostat back to a temperature that is lower (if you are running heat) or higher (if you are running air conditioning). Wait for the HVAC unit to stop running if it was running when you adjusted the thermostat.
