How Do You Test Computer Voices On A Mac?
In Apple’s Mac OS X operating system, users can have their computers speak system alerts or announce the current date and time. These audio options are performed in the standard system voice, but users can customize their speech settings to have their computer use a variety of different alert voices. The audio settings are controlled in “System Preferences,” where users can also test out different computer voices to find the one they prefer. This article explains how to test computer voices on a Mac. Open “System Preferences” by clicking on the icon in the dock. Choose the “Speech” control panel from the “System” category. Click on the “Text to Speech” tab at the top of the control panel window. Select “Show More Voices” from the “System Voice” drop-down menu. Select any voice from the now expanded “System Voice” drop-down menu. Press the “Play” button to hear a sample of the selected voice. Repeat Steps 5 and 6 until you find the voice you want.
