How Do You Temporarily Repair A Smearing Windshield Wiper?
It happens to all of us. We get stuck somewhere with a car problem and realize that there’s no repair shop nearby. Mr. Turtledove went through seven years of college and experienced many kinds of minor and major car problems. In this series of articles he describes what he did with each issue. In a driving rain one day he noticed that his windshield wipers were smearing, not cleaning. Unfortunately there was no service station within miles and he was worried about driving any further. He did what he could and was able to drive to the next available gas station. Here’s how he did it. Step 1 First of all, make sure you carry an emergency tool kit in the trunk of your car. The kit should contain a pair of pliers, Philips and flathead screwdrivers, heavyweight duct tape, assorted screws, rubber washers, a flashlight, a coat hanger, a small roll of wire, and a pair of vise-grips.
