How do you tell the difference between a real diamond and cubic zirconia?
Here are some of the differences: 1) Cubic zirconia are flawless when compared to natural diamonds. Most natural diamonds have some sort of inclusion in them some you can see with the naked eye, other inclusions you can see with a loop. If you look at a cubic zirconia under a loop, it is flawless. 2) Cubic zirconia has more fire than a diamond. However, its refraction index is lower than a diamond. Which means that a diamond will refract more light, which is what gives it that “sparkle”. 3) Cubic zirconia is heavier than a natural diamond, about 1.5 times heavier. 4) Diamonds are harder than a cubic zirconia. It is 10 in Mohs scale whereas a cubic zirconia registers 8.5. 5) Last, but not least, cubic zirconia are so much more affordable than a naturally mined diamond. Diamonds are overpriced and overhyped by DeBeers and the diamond industry.
