Many dog breeds resemble each other. Sometimes, poor examples of one breed may resemble another breed entirely, even if it is purebred. However, many people think they can tell if a dog is a pure breed simply by looking at it. This misconception has led to a number of breed-specific laws to be passed in response to perceived threats from a particular type of dog.
