In either the 4th or 5th grade, students learn about the regions of the US in a lot of schools. For those that want to incorporate technology or support their social studies instruction during computer lab time, this is a good lesson. Go to the following site and check out the Southeast interactive map. This site has LOADS of cool stuff for teaching on LOTS of subjects! http://www.mrnussbaum.com/south.htm There are features on this site that you get only with a subscription but a lot of this, including this map, is free. Experiment with the map yourself. Move your mouse over it to discover info about the Appalachains, important cities, rivers, National parks and landmarks. Look for things that fit in your curriculum as you explore. Think about what kind of questions you would like your students to answer on their “webquest” about the Southeast.
