How Do You Tame A Lost Cat?
Cats are sensitive animals. If a cat has been abused, or has simply not been properly socialized, she will react with fear towards humans. Lost cats that are away from human contact for a while may also become distrustful of humans–even cats that are not lost may be wary of strangers. You can tame a cat–to bring it inside in a safer environment, for example–with the right combination of gentleness, patience and special treats. Set up a room in your house with a clean litter pan and litter, food dishes, dry cat food, water and a cozy area for the cat to relax and sleep. Trap the cat using a humane trap and bring her indoors to the room. Remain quiet at first around the cat. Allow her to get used to your presence. The 21cats organization recommends sitting with the cat a few hours each day. Avoid sudden movements or noise. Place cat treats or a saucer of aromatic canned cat food out for the cat. Sit quietly a short distance away (about 5 to 10 feet). Allow the cat to approach and eat
